Amalgam Fillings, Temporary Fillings & More

If you're no stranger to fillings, then you know we recommend them for treating cavities. If a tooth has been cracked or damaged or if current filling needs to be replaced, fillings can help repair the damage.

We use bonded fillings made of a composite resin that's similar in colour to a patient's teeth. Different from traditional silver amalgam fillings, the composite resin blends more naturally.

Same-Day Crowns in Antigonish

Oftentimes, we'll recommend a crown when a tooth can't be repaired with a filling or another dental procedure.

A crown is a restoration technique that completely covers a tooth, providing it with structure and support. While traditional crown restorations can take several appointments, at Antigonish Family Dentistry we use the CEREC method. This means we can typically perform a crown restoration in about an hour.

Dental Bridges in Antigonish

Dental bridges literally bridge the gap between missing and stable teeth. A dental bridge can be used to replace one or more missing teeth. The bridge attaches to the remaining natural teeth on either side forming that bridge.

A bridge can help patients achieve a beautiful smile and can help prevent natural teeth from shifting or rotating into the space that's created by the missing teeth.

Affordable Same-Day Full and Partial Dentures

For patients looking for affordable options when it comes to replacing teeth, Dentures are often recommended. Dentures can be used to replace one missing tooth, or as many as all of your teeth. There are two types of dentures – Full and Partial.

Full dentures replace all of the teeth in the top and/or bottom section of your mouth, and are usually made from acrylic or porcelain. Partial dentures can be used to replace one or more missing teeth, and are generally made from a combination of acrylic and metal.

Root Canal Therapy in Antigonish

A root canal is necessary if a tooth has developed, or is very likely to develop, an infection in its inner soft tissue. This type of infection cannot clear up on its own, and therefore, dental intervention is necessary in order to maintain good oral health, and prevent future infections from developing.

Migraine Pain Prevention in Antigonish

At Antigonish Family Dentistry we offer patients who suffer from migraine or tension headaches a number of recommendations for relief. Dr. Wotton and his team may be able to help by fitting a stabilization splint.

A stabilization splint is a small mouthpiece designed to prevent teeth clenching during sleep. They're proven to reduce headache triggers, like abnormal muscle contractions and teeth grinding, by nearly 70%.

Because they're small and unobtrusive, they don't engage your gag reflex like other mouth appliances can.

Stabilization splints are also a viable option for you if you find yourself grinding your teeth, feeling pain in your jaw muscle, or just wanting to give your teeth's biting surfaces and surrounding hard tissues some protection while recovering from dental trauma or a dental procedure.

Ask Dr. Wotton if a stabilization splint is right for you.
